Unavoidable Increase of delivery charge due to Insurance claim rejection by TNT Express

We have to increase our delivery charges due to failure of some courier companies to pay for insurance due to damage when the goods were in their hand.

In late July 2007 we shipped a Computer system worth $997  to Mt Lawley in WA with extra paid for TNT Insurance Class A. TNT courier service charges us $11 for that insurance compared with Australia post rate of about $1 for each $100 value of item. Item was damaged in transit while in the care of TNT Express or TNT courier service. At the time person from TNT Express called us and told the item was run-over by a truck. It is obvious it is bad handing by TNT courier service.

We made a claim on the understanding that it will be paid by the TNT couriers insurance . But to our surprise we received a letter which deny  the insurance claim.

Part of the letter from TNT Express courier service.

So as the word over-run by truck is not in the TNT Express courier insurance policy, it was not covered by TNT Express Courier Insurance policy

Under these circumstance we have no option but to cancel all future delivery by TNT and increase the delivery charges to cover liabilities due to all unforseen delivery failures by TNT Express and other delivery companies.

Please understand this in only one example which we like to highlight to our customers.
