Pioneer have just announced details of their new 9th generation burners. featuring

• 16x DVD-R/+R burning
• Biggest improvments - increased DVD+R dual layer writing speed from 4x to 6x
• DVD+RW is up from 4x to 8x
• DVD-RW has gone from 4x to 6x.

Drives will be available in beige or black in a retail kit (A09) or OEM drive (109). OEM drives will be available either with or without software.Price of DVR-109 is expected to be under $150.  DVR 109 and A09 may include the support of DVD-R DL (Dual layer -R format) disks.  The new drive will replace the popular Pioneer 108 and A08 drives.

This new Pioneer DVD Writer is  a multiple format DVD writer (Model   DVR-109)  It supports 16x write speeds on both DVD-R/+R along with the capability to write at 6x speed on DVD-R/+R Double/Dual Layer media . This extends Pioneer's track record of establishing key performance benchmarks when introducing new DVD writers. With the facility to write 4.7GB of data to write-once media in approx. seven minutes, or store up to 8.5GB on Double Layer media, the DVR-109 enhances a wide range of DVD applications including the authoring, editing and storing of video files, developing digital music catalogues, building image libraries and backing up data.
